If you're looking for a different kind of hotel, this is it. Unique, vintage & super clean. Definitely a different kind of experience. I stayed in room 21 which was huge. A different kind of stay in a historical building that's definitely worth it. In a great location, you're across the street from the lake and can easily walk to many different activities. 3 restaurants/bars right on the hotel property. You get 2 drink tickets upon check in if that's your thing. They do offer breakfast, I didn't partake. Plenty parking right onsite. I would definitely stay here again. Only 2 negatives - the train woke me starting at 4am, the heat didn't work so well. I could see it being noisy during warmer months as it's located on a busy street.

I haven't stayed here myself but colleagues visiting from out of town have stayed here and enjoyed it. It's a little dated but the service is great, plus it's right above the Up North, the best dive bar around! The location is perfect (minutes-walk from the Capitol) and there's a lot of food options nearby. Also, they say it's haunted, so if you're into that, check it out! The few hotels in the area are insanely expensive, so this is a great option if you just want a decent place to stay at a reasonable price that's downtown.

This hidden gem is a one of a kind hotel. Reasonably priced, comfortable, and unique with great amenities. Included with your stay you get free drinks at one of the 3 bars that are in the hotel, plus free breakfast at one of the 2 restaraunts in the hotel.

This is a hidden gem of a hotel in downtown Madison, WI. Complimentary parking, happy hour and a gift certificate to the Essen House were included in my stay. Whoo hoo! Friendly staff, super charming rooms.......Totally Awesome.

The rooms combine 19th century aesthetics with 21st century comfort and amenities. We slept very well and the lake view was lovely. Breakfast was tasty and had some unusual bonuses like flan. Late checkin is at the bar but that went smoothly. Comfortable and quirky.

Great little hotel with a classic vibe. Rooms are mostly updated. Staff is incredibly friendly. Can’t beat the location.

This is a super cool hotel with awesome access to partner restaurants. The antique astetic, the quality of rooms, the cleanliness, the location are all amazing. Truly loved staying in the hotel.

I loved it here! I wish I never had to leave! Staff are super nice and helpful. Free drinks at the Up North bar was a fun surprise. They have live music at the Up North bar and the Come Back In next door had karaoke the night we stayed. Super convenient location. The rooms are so cute and charming, the bed was super comfy, there was even a jacuzzi tub in our bathroom! Breakfast was great! I'm definitely staying here again next time I'm in Madison
